12/23/02. OK, guys, I can take a joke, after all, I own not one, but two VW busses. Help me out here. I'm dying to know, in Paul Harvey's words: "the rest of the story". I can't get past the Yosemite chapter on your site. The "next" button takes me nowhere. I'm dying to know how this all ends. Being a 78 Westy owner and a bit of an expert on Iran to boot, I thought I'd share some advice, which you seem to indicate that you'll appreciate... On your Anya the Bus page, you mention 1978, Ronald Reagan and Iran-Contra all in the same sentence, as though they all happened at the same time. Lesson time. Ronald Reagan became president in 1980, two years after 1978, after soundly defeating Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter did not and does not have Alzheimers. Ronald Reagan does. On the day of Ronald Reagan's inauguration, Iran released the hostages taken at the American Embassy in Tehran in 1979 (they had been hostage for 444 days), because Iran feared Ronald Reagan would bomb them to the stone age (how ironic, considering Iran's society today). 1979 was the year of the Iranian Islamic Revolution. Jimmy Carter was impotent in his attempts to "negotiate" the release of the hostages. Additionally, Iran-Contra did not occur until several years later, when Ronald Reagan's administration was caught selling arms to Iran in exchange for support to Nicaraguan rebels engaged against very bad people, ala Manuel Noriega. I hope this all doesn't sound Poindexterish or patronizing. If it makes you feel better, I'm a "twenty-something", too - I just happen to know a bit about Iran, Volkswagens and politics.
